The Crypt: an online museum for NFTs

The Crypt: an online museum for NFTs

An interactive platform for digital collectors

The Crypt, the new museum dedicated to NFTs, opens online on the Virtually World platform, created by Virtually Holdings Ltd, which plans to expand with a shopping center, sports village and arcade.

The museum was founded by Jonathan Sands, Alex Suchet and Rick Senat and includes digital collections of art, literature, music, photography and cinema. Many of the items are available for NFT collectors, for sale or auction.

A screenshot of “The Crypt”, Courtesy The Crypt

Six are the exhibitions with which The Crypt opens to the public: FLASHBACK, Alternate Dimensions, The Making of Heroes, Unseen Histories, Hollywood Greats and One Giant Leap.

The structure of the museum is typical and realistic: it is composed of an atrium, a large spiral staircase and “natural” light that illuminates the space.

Visitors can access The Crypt from mobile, on a browser, or they can immerse themselves in the museum via a VR viewer. Group visits are also possible via a private invitation link and with voice chat available.

The museum’s goal is partly to make NFTs accessible to a wider audience, but Jonathan Sands says The Crypt responds to “a rapidly changing world where creatives are back in the lead” and does so by giving artists a greater control of their work, through dedicated NFT environments and exhibitions, which can act as “creative hubs” for their innovations and visions.

New technologies are stopping thieves and counterfeiters

The new tools of the authorities make it possible to fight art crimes

The art market is a multi-billion dollar industry that must prevent the action of thieves and counterfeiters by all means.

Police, security forces, museums and collectors must therefore keep abreast of the latest developments in technology and its means, which can help thwart art crimes.

Among the technological innovations that have emerged in support of the security sector for art is the blockchain: useful for the authentication of digital works of art.

Platforms based on blockchain technology protect data relating to works, making counterfeiting much more difficult for counterfeiters.

After the looting of Iraqi museums during the US invasion of 2003, the British company SmartWater, which provides security systems to companies and historic sites, has developed a technology to safeguard Iraqi museums.

These are invisible liquids to be applied to works of art. They are encoded with data relating to the stolen goods and are only shown in ultraviolet light.

Today, nearly 300,000 works of art in Baghdad’s Iraq Museum and Sulaimani’s Slemani Museum have been treated with liquid, and SmartWater aims to extend to more museums in the Middle East.

ID-Art, free Interpol app, Courtesy of Interpol

Interpol has launched a free app, ID-Art, which allows gallery owners and collectors to create their own inventory of works of art in case of theft.

Among the innovative means of managing and protecting works of art is Art Rights, which helps protect works, physical or digital, by offering the possibility of creating a complete and professional digital archive through the ART MANAGER service.

The Art Rights management software allows you to manage the works through Blockchain technology, to create and keep the History always updated.

With an annual subscription, each artist will be able to create their own archive in total safety: in fact, no information or document will ever be made public, unless shared by the user himself with temporary permissions.

The Artist can enter all the works created, adding information and creating Certificates of Authenticity at no additional cost.

Art Rights thus offers the Artist, the Collector and the Professional the possibility to create their own Passport of the work of art, thanks to the Art Rights Certificate in which it is possible to enter all the information on the object, from the value handling, without forgetting the Condition Report and the many other activities that are part of the life of the work.

Thanks to the complete and always up-to-date Digital Archive, it is thus possible to digitize information on one’s works, manage, protect and enhance them with Art Rights.

The new generation of artists is all digital

Young teens experiment with new ways to establish themselves in the NFT world

Curious, energetic and innovative: they are the guys of Generation Z, increasingly common personalities in the Crypto universe.

Digital natives, every day they come across news and possible inspirations enclosed in the words of a tweet, or between photographs and videos published on social platforms such as Instagram.

The stimulating environment that surrounds them makes them feel the need to experiment and become more and more familiar with the means at their disposal, just like Randi Hipper did who, after hearing about NFT on various channels, decided to publish his works. and collaborate with artists already known in the digital field.

Right now, I’m trying to drop one drop a week,” said Hipper, now calling herself Miss Teen Crypto, “I try not to overload my feed and my collectors.”

Established NFT sales platforms such as OpenSea, SuperRare and Nifty Gateway offer a vast panorama of creators, regardless of age and gender: an excellent showcase for those who want to make art their profession without the obligation to be followed by a gallery.

“In the NFT world, anyone can post online, market themselves on Twitter and build a following from a young age,” says Griffin Cock Foster, creator – along with his twin brother Duncan – of the Nifty Gateway marketplace.

In June, the platform launched Nifty Next Generation, a successful event that featured the work of two young artists: jstngraphics, 17, from Washington state, and Solace, 18, from Soledad, California, both in the Crypto world for less than a year but already well known.

Among the many young faces of the NFT landscape stands FEWOCiOUS – alias Victor Langlois – an eighteen-year-old transgender who uses digital art to tell about her difficult childhood and combat discrimination related to gender identity.

After starting to sell his works on different marketplaces, he was noticed by Noah Davis, Christie’s digital art specialist, who immediately decided to organize an auction dedicated to five of his works entitled Hello, i’m Victor (FEWOCiOUS) e This Is My Life, a hit event that earned the artist notoriety and $ 2.16 million.ù

It is clear that for some young people creating NFT is a fun pastime and for others it is a huge opportunity to start their own career in the world of Crypto Art.

To facilitate this process, more and more NFT platforms are creating Communities that allow artists, collectors and professionals of the digital world to get in touch to discuss, train and update themselves on new technologies, trends and market developments.

Among the tools to support artists, including Crypto Artists, we find Art Rights, a platform for the management and certification of works of art – physical and digital – through Blockchain technology. Among the services that the platform offers there is also the Art Concierge, the largest community of professionals in the sector in support of art.

And you, are you ready to sell your NFT works?

Art Basel: Simon Denny sells NFT in favor of Basel

News from the digital and NFT world – 23 SEPTEMBER 2021

Every day, Art Rights Magazine selects the best news from the world of digital art, to stay up to date!

Art Basel and NFT. Simon Denny sells NFT to Basel

The Berlin artist Simon Denny, in collaboration with the Kunsthalle Basel, has created an NFT in favor of the economy of Basel.

This is a simple and static work of Crypto Art, a black and white graph showing the steady rise in property prices during specific historical events: the Great Depression, the two world wars, the post war capitalist boom era. up to our times.

Conceived with the support of the economist Moritz Schularick, the goal would be to “decentralize” wealth, getting it out of the usual patterns that generated it:

“The rise of cryptocurrencies has meant (and I think it will continue to mean more and more in the future) a challenge to existing monetary systems,” said the artist, “cryptocurrencies are a threat to the government’s control over the economies they preside,” and therefore to power… “.

The work will be sold during Art Basel by Kunsthalle Basel: “Regardless of whether or not one is interested in NFTs in general, one should still closely observe how Denny uses the medium to transform it into a conceptual work of art”, said Elena Filipovic, director and curator of the Kunsthalle, “I am one of those people who are generally not interested in the NFT phenomenon, but I am immensely interested in what Denny is doing with them.”

Corriere della Sera and NFT: Andrea Bonaceto’s work on sale on Nifty Gateway

This is the first page of the newspaper of 21 July 1969 dedicated to the moon landing

Corriere della Sera, the first Italian newspaper to debut in the world of Non Fungible Tokens, created the NFT of the first page of the moon landing in collaboration with Crypto Artist Andrea Bonaceto.

It is a dynamic and programmatic Crypto work that, as the artist states, “blends visual art and poetry in a single medium”, ready to change to reach its final state when man returns to the moon.

The work will be auctioned today 23 September at 18:00 on the Nifty Gateway marketplace, one of the main NFT platforms, and consists of 10 different versions sold together with the portraits of the three astronauts who participated in the Apollo 11 expedition.

5mila dollari per i quindici esemplari con l’effigie di Neil Armstrong (primo uomo a mettere piede sul suolo lunare), 2.500 dollari per le t5 thousand dollars for the fifteen copies with the effigy of Neil Armstrong (the first man to set foot on the moon), 2,500 dollars for the thirty copies respectively with Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.

For the occasion, the artist has also created an illustrated poem entitled Waiting for a Train in Palmyra, available only in 5 copies reserved for collectors of the artist at the symbolic cost of 3 dollars.

The artist Andrea Bonaceto had already made headlines when, with Hanson Robotics of Hong Kong, he created the work entitled “Sophia Instantiation”, also sold on the Nifty Gateway platform for a whopping $ 688,888.

On that occasion it was the first piece of Crypto Art created by an artificial intelligence in collaboration with the Italian digital artist who first painted a physical version of the portrait of the robot on which the humanoid robot Sophia then intervened. powerful AI, he transformed the work into NFT and then put it up for sale.

A few hours before the drop of the Corriere della Sera page, Nifty Gateway offers the opportunity to converse with the artist Andrea Bonaceto via a live chat on the marketplace’s twitter channel.

Snapchat: an AR lens to experience Christo’s “wrapped” Arc de Triomphe

Snapchat: an AR lens to experience Christo’s “wrapped” Arc de Triomphe

The project was born in collaboration with Sotheby’s for the exhibition “The Final Christo: original works for the Arc de Triomphe”

After almost 60 years of studies and sketches, in these days the dream of the artist Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude has finally come true: to wrap up the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

A grandiose project, built after the couple’s death, with over 25,000 square meters of blue and silver fabric and 7,000 meters of red rope, which will cover the monument until 3 October.

Furthermore, as part of the installation, Snap Inc, in collaboration with Sotheby’s, has designed a new augmented reality lens that allows you to “experience” the packaging of the Arc de Triomphe via smartphone from anywhere in the world.

    The Snapchat lens

In fact, by scanning a Snapcode the user can “travel in time”: by clicking on various years (1962, 1988, 2018, 2020 and today), Christo’s sketches and studies are “superimposed” on the Arc de Triomphe, complete with noises and background sounds.

A real immersive experience in conjunction with the Selling Exhibition “The Final Christo”, which will take place at Sotheby’s in Paris.

24 works by Christo will be sold, including collages and preparatory drawings, which testify to the history of the project.

And you, are you ready to experience the Arc de Triomphe in AR?

NFT and animals to collect: collectible projects to discover

From the most famous Crypto Punks to the works of Hackatao, Giovanni Motta and Beeple through the great success of Axie Infinity, NFTs are conquering the business world, burning any predictable stage and attracting the attention of institutions, such as the New York Times, small and large investors.

    A look at Collectible Tokens

Although the NFT craze seemed to have faded, after the boom of summer 2020 following the initial trend of the DeFI, now it seems to have returned strongly to the charge above all thanks to the phenomenon of Collectibles.

Bored Apes, are just the most famous of a series of NFT collections from the revolutionary movement that is leading this century.

Among the most famous collectibles there are not only Bored Apes Yacht Club, but also the Lazy Lions, the Pugdy Penguins, the CyberKongz not to mention the Weired Whales, Cool Cats NFT, the Doge Pirates and the SupDucks.

Projects that have common characteristics, from the concept of a limited number collection to the animal theme with traits varying from token to token, up to the possibility of using the token as a well-recognizable Identity within the digital space.

Bored Apes Yacht Club (BAYC) is a project that was born recently, officially in April 2021 on the Ethereum chain. The collection boasts 10,000 NFT sold out in the first 12 hours of sales opening, an event that allowed BAYC to be positioned in the top positions of OpenSea as one of the collections with the highest trades (now 147,104.08 ETH).

Founded by 4 members Gargamel, Gordon Goner, Emperor Tomato Ketchup and No Sass the project behind the Bored Apes is much more than a simple ERC-721 whose token can be viewed as a social avatar on Twitter or Discord platforms. Owning an NFT of this kind in your wallet is equivalent to the possibility of accessing the Yacht Club, an exclusive community whose benefits “are proof of longevity”.

The most current advantage is undoubtedly the channel dedicated to the BATHROOM, a shared artistic space where each user has a pixel (updated every 50 minutes), which starts an artistic social experiment similar to that of the English Alex Tew with his MillionDollarHomepage.

    A “Bored Ape”

    What are Bored Apes?

The main image portrays a bored monkey whose characteristics vary during the minting procedure, the algorithm used for the generation of the NFT is completely random “fishing” 170 possible traits between expressions, hats, accessories, clothes and backgrounds, making some traits rarer than others.

Riding the explosion of the digital market, the “swamp” as the BAYC user pool is defined – which is around 5,400 users according to OpenSea – has attracted the interest of characters such as NBA star Stephen Curry (Bored Ape # 7990), The Chainsmokers on whose twitter profile you can see the piece # 7691, the youtuber Logan Paul who owns the Ape # 1442 and # 207 and others known as Gary Vaynerchuk, Roham Gharegozlu, Josh Hart, Tyrese Haliburton and LaMelo Ball.

Currently, the highest sale in the Bored Apes market is priced at 740 ETH ($ 2,249,881.58) fueling the trading volume at around 151,000ETH.

    Pudgy Penguin #6154

    Pugdy Penguins

Speaking of collections, it’s impossible not to mention the adorable Pugdy Penguins.

This series of JPEGs rendered Non Fungible Token is made up of 8,888 “chubby” penguins with characteristic accessories, hats, hairstyles and the most must have mohawak.

To underline the current trend, the team made up of MrTubby, Micah, Jonah, Cole, Wybo, Hiro, Starker-xp and Ecko at the end of July announced that the collection sold out in just 19 minutes on the OpenSea marketplace.

Compared to the Bored Apes, the Pugdy Penguins boast fewer trades, reaching 33,000ETH in trading volume and the highest price of the collection: an example is the sample # 6873 sold for 150WETH.

The project is supported by a solid community, very active on the Twitter channel of 4000 users, where the support between Pengus (owners of a PP) led to the most recent charity auction which ended on 23 August and a donation of $ 75,000 to the association. GLOBAL PENGUIN SOCIETY for the protection of these water birds and their habitat.

    Doge Pound PUPPY #160

    The Doge Pounds

Born from the famous “Doge” by Elon Musk, The Doge Pounds is a collection of 10,000 NFT that depicts the best known dog of the crypto era and emerges for its use in the gaming world.

The project provides for the 4,000 owners (currently the number of active users) of Doggos (male Doge) and Doges (female) the possibility of having their dogs “mated” by redeeming puppies to be cared for through food and attention that can be find within the game itself.

Reaching a capitalization of 11,400 ETH it is in position # 38 in the special OpenSea ranking for volumes achieved thanks to the recent sale of the Doggo # 1584 for 21.88 ETH.

    CyberKong #3553

    CyberKongz

If you are a gaming lover, you can’t help but love CyberKongz! These fantastic gorillas with a pixelated style very similar to that of the famous Donkey Kong, are part of a collection of 3,400 gorillas between GenesisKong and BabyKong.

These, thanks to the partnership with The Sandbox, can participate in the “Kongz Island” a multi-summer metaverse where the avatars use their $ BANANA to buy clothes and equipment in view of their adventure on the island.

The average price of a Kongz is around 2 ETH for the most common and 43 ETH for the rarer ones, with the exception of the CyberKonz Sith # 1000 sold at a price of 100ETH.

    Weird Whales 786

    Weird Whales

Another NFT animal project is Weird Whales.

These pixelated whales have even attracted the attention of the New York Times because they were created by Benyamin Ahmed, a twelve-year-old British enthusiast of programming and Phyton, the software with which he made the drawings.

His collection boasts around 3,400 designs of which # 784 last sold 7.9 ETH, from which he raised a total of around £ 290,000.

The case of Benyamin Ahmed underlines the great interest of the new generations for the Crypto and NFT world.

Art Basel 2021: a Basquiat’s artwork is the most expensive

Art BaseArt Basel 2021: a Basquiat’s artwork is the most expensive

“Hardware Store”, presented by the Van de Weghe Gallery, is worth 40 million dollars.

Art Basel 2021 has just begun, one of the most important fairs in the entire world art scene, which is finally taking place not only online but also “in person”.

All the eyes of collectors and operators in the sector are on this great event, with over 250 galleries and 4,000 artists from all over the world.

“Hardware Store” (1983) – Jean-Michel Basquiat, courtesy of Van de Weghe Gallery

It is in this scenario that the Van de Weghe gallery in New York has decided to offer for the first time on the market a work by Jean-Michel Basquiat worth about 40 million dollars, the most expensive of all Art Basel 2021.

“Hardware Store”, this is the title, is a 2 x 3 meter canvas painted by the French artist in 1982, the year in which it was purchased by a private collector, whose identity is unknown, and has remained out of market until today.

Published in the catalog raisonné drawn up in 2010 by the Enrico Navarra Gallery, the work is first exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1992-1993, and in Paris, at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in 2018-19.

“This painting has incredible visual power,” said gallery owner Van de Weghe. “I convinced the owner, that he is a good friend, that now is the time to sell”.

Let’s see if, during the days of Art Basel, the work will be able to find a new owner.
