{"id":13687,"date":"2020-06-25T11:04:19","date_gmt":"2020-06-25T11:04:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/migrate1.artrights.me\/?p=13687"},"modified":"2021-04-21T15:55:29","modified_gmt":"2021-04-21T15:55:29","slug":"francois-pinault-vs-bernard-arnault-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artrights.me\/en\/francois-pinault-vs-bernard-arnault-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Fran\u00e7ois Pinault VS Bernard Arnault"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>FRAN\u00c7OIS PINAULT VS BERNARD ARNAULT<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>The \u201crivalry\u201d between two great art collectors<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fran\u00e7ois Pinault and Bernard Arnault, among the two richest men in France, are business rivals, but have a common passion that unites them: that of art collecting.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s a twenty-year battle that the two billionaires, Pinault,<strong> founder of the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kering.com\/\"><strong>Kering<\/strong><\/a><strong> group and Arnault of <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvmh.it\/\"><strong>LVMH<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> are fighting, to the tune of millions and tricks, <strong>&#8220;to conquer the title of prince-patron of modern times&#8221;.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bernard Arnault and Fran\u00e7ois Pinault had cordial relations until 1999, <strong>when the hostilities that remain to this day began<\/strong>. The trigger of the war of luxury was <strong>the acquisition of the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/artrights.me\/gucci-e-l-arte\/\"><strong>Gucci<\/strong><\/a><strong> brand <\/strong>by Pinault&#8217;s fashion house at the expense of Arnault.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, the clear <strong>winner of the luxury war has been Arnault<\/strong>, currently the richest man in France, with an <strong>estimated<\/strong> wealth of <strong>92.7 billion dollars<\/strong>, followed by Pinault with a wealth of 32.8 billion dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And so the &#8220;duel&#8221; moves onto the <strong>art scene,<\/strong> where Pinault, one of the <strong>world&#8217;s largest private art collectors to <\/strong>date &#8211; his collection includes over 3,000 works of art, ranging from the 20th to the 21st century, <strong>worth over $1.2 billion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to collecting, since 2006, Fran\u00e7ois Pinault&#8217;s cultural project has been structured around three axes: <strong>museum activities in Venice, initiatives to support artists and the promotion of art history.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition activity of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palazzograssi.it\/it\/about\/collezione\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Pinault Collection<\/a> has found space in two excellent locations in Venice:<strong> Palazzo Grassi on the one hand, inaugurated in 2006, and Punta della Dogana on the other, opened to the public in 2009,<\/strong> whose spaces have been restored and set up by Japanese architect <strong>Tadao Ando<\/strong>. In addition to the Venetian museums, Fran\u00e7ois Pinault will inaugurate <strong>a new exhibition venue at the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boursedecommerce.fr\/en\/\"><strong>Bourse de commerce in<\/strong><\/a><strong> Paris in <\/strong>spring 2021.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For his part, Bernard Arnault has brought together a<a href=\"https:\/\/artrights.me\/corporate-art-collections\/\"><strong> Corporate Art Collection<\/strong><\/a><strong> that represents extraordinary support for his empire based on the marriage of luxury and art<\/strong>. Arnault earned his reputation on the art scene, not only by collecting but also<strong> by financing the exhibitions of the great Parisian national museums and then creating his own contemporary art foundation:<\/strong><strong> the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationlouisvuitton.fr\/fr.html\" class=\"broken_link\"><strong>Fondation Louis Vuitton<\/strong><\/a><strong> in Paris<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The foundation represents a significant new contribution to <strong>Parisian heritage thanks to the building that houses it<\/strong>: an emblem of 21st century architecture by <strong>Archistar Frank Gehry<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition activity of the Fondation Louis Vuitton focused <strong>on modern and contemporary art, attracting a number of visitors comparable to that of a large museum<\/strong>: the entrances in 2018 were <strong>1,142,731. <\/strong>Although the headquarters is in Paris, with the program <strong>&#8220;hors les murs&#8221; Louis Vuitton Espaces have also<\/strong> opened<strong> in Venice, Beijing, Monaco, Tokyo and Seoul where works from the permanent collection are exhibited.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A &#8220;battle&#8221;
