PRO AND AGAINST ARTISTS<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><i>So many advantages, but so many obstacles: the self-produced exhibition can represent a turning point for the career of an artist, provided that&#8230;<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<h2><!--more--><\/h2>\n<section class=\"content-section full-width with-col cover pb-70 pb-xs-50 rella-no-margin content-section-5a71cb13dc9ff\">\n<div class=\"row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Often galleries, foundations and museums are not able to accommodate the great demand for collaboration and exhibition coming from artists, especially emerging ones who just at the beginning, want to have the opportunity to show their artistic research and be part of the art system. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There are those who face the search for an exhibition space <span class=\"s2\"><b>without method<\/b><\/span>, others relying on collaborations with <a href=\"https:\/\/artrights.me\/en\/profession-art-curator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>art curators<\/b><\/span><\/a>, while others choose to <b>self-produce the exhibition<\/b>, as a <span class=\"s2\"><b>solo<\/b><\/span><b> or <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/artrights.me\/en\/the-different-types-of-art-exhibition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>group show<\/b><\/span><\/a><b> with the participation of other artists.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In fact, the art scene is not lacking in the so-called <b>self-produced exhibitions by artists,<\/b> who choose to exhibit a <b>selection of their works in unconventional spaces or in their ateliers.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The practice is not entirely new, but on the contrary one of the first to do so was the metaphysical artist <b>Giorgio De Chirico,<\/b> who in the early <b>1900s set up a small exhibition in his studio, attracting the attention of the great critic Apollinaire. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In Milan, on the other hand, there is the second edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkinstudio.it\/article\/11354\/il-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Walk-In Studio<\/b><\/span><\/a>, a festival of <b>spaces and artists&#8217; studios to be<\/b> held from <b>20 to 24 October 2020,<\/b> thanks to which the city&#8217;s artists <b>will open their studios and experimental spaces to organize exhibitions and events.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Today the possibilities of exhibition are increasingly <b>diversified and not always linked to prestigious galleries or institutions,<\/b> just think of the possibilities given by <b>technology and social networks,<\/b> tools that allow <b>artists to emerge if supported by a digital strategy and promote their activity together with new ways of exhibition in virtual places.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">But regardless of the exhibition space self-produced by the artist, in its physical or virtual mode, there will be <b>pros and cons to be<\/b> faced <b>before the development of the project.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Let&#8217;s see some pros:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>The artist is free to choose the location that best suits his production<\/b>: strategic if chosen in terms of location, trend and importance, because it can ensure a <b>better enjoyment of the works and increase the curiosity and<\/b> interest of the public, including collectors and gallery owners;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">For the artist it is possible to <b>expose the production he most desires to<\/b> a <b>wider target of enthusiasts, not only insiders.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">The exhibition can enjoy <b>greater accessibility due to the absence of an entrance ticket<\/b> and the choice of an <b>unconventional space for art <\/b>but very well known by most people.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">The possibility to<b> diversify the promotion of the event<\/b> by exploiting <b>channels that are also different <\/b>from those <b>closely<\/b> related <b>to the art world,<\/b> for example,<b> non-art magazines, TV and local press.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Many pros, however, correspond to many cons how:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Exposure to <b>criticism from professionals in the sector<\/b> who, as such, do not recognize the <b>cultural value of a self-produced exhibition<\/b> because it is not supported by operators accredited by the system;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Not maintaining a <b>high standard in all phases of the organization of the exhibition<\/b>: from the production to the setting up, from the promotion to the reception of the public;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">The absence or lack of <b>value of a critical apparatus not recognized by professionals in the sector<\/b> that does not legitimize and protect the value of the artist and his production.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Choosing whether or not to produce your own exhibition will still involve risks of which it is good to be aware, but at the same time if well designed in all its phases, it could turn into a turning point for your career.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p5\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><i>And you&#8217;re ready to produce your own
