{"id":4932,"date":"2018-10-05T07:52:27","date_gmt":"2018-10-05T07:52:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/migrate1.artrights.me\/corporate-art-collections\/"},"modified":"2020-04-10T14:36:41","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T14:36:41","slug":"corporate-art-collections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artrights.me\/en\/corporate-art-collections\/","title":{"rendered":"Corporate Art Collections"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>When the company acts as a collector<\/h2>\n<section class=\"content-section full-width with-col cover pb-70 pb-xs-50 rella-no-margin content-section-5a71cb13dc9ff\">\n<div class=\"row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"section-text text-block \">\n<h1 class=\"Corpo\"><em>The term Corporate Art refers to any artistic property within a collection managed by a company.<\/em><\/h1>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"Corpo\"><em><strong>Today we can count thousands of corporate collections linked to different business industries, even those that seem more distant from an artistic context<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the <strong>Corporate Art Collections<\/strong> at international level we find the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubs.com\/global\/en\/about_ubs\/art\/art-collection.html\" class=\"broken_link\">UBS Art Collection<\/a> with over <strong>35 thousand works<\/strong>, or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpmorganchase.com\/corporate\/About-JPMC\/jpmorgan-art-collection.htm\">JPMorgan Chase Art Collection<\/a> launched in 1959 by <strong>David Rockefeller<\/strong> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpmorganchase.com\/corporate\/About-JPMC\/jpmorgan-art-collection.htm\">Deutsche Bank Collection<\/a> which contains <strong>more than 5 thousand artists.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In<strong> Italy<\/strong>\u00a0the research presented in 2016 by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicatt.it\/\">Universit\u00e0 Cattolica del Sacro Cuore<\/a> <strong>in collaboration<\/strong> <strong>with<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axa-art.com\/it\/\" class=\"broken_link\">AXA Art<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intesasanpaolo.com\/\">Intesa San Paolo<\/a>, to bring to light the variety of the landscape that distinguishes the phenomenon: for example, among the <strong>455 Italian companies<\/strong> interviewed, the foundations are the most involved in corporate collecting, followed by banks and insurance companies and, above all, manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>These data are also confirmed by the <strong>International Directory of Corporate Art Collections by Shirley Reiff Howarth<\/strong>, annual census of corporate collecting: credit \/ finance and industry are the most attentive to art.<\/p>\n<p>According to the various studies published, <strong>the reasons<\/strong> that push a company to decide to introduce artworks within their spaces, are not related to the mere investment and can be contained in <strong>three groups:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The need to<strong> gain legitimacy<\/strong> towards stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>The need to<strong> communicate with the society<\/strong>\u00a0and the stakeholders themselves<\/li>\n<li>The desire to<strong> create a specific strategy for a specific business<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Although many collections were born for a direct interest in art by the top manager, this is not the only element able to create and grow an ambitious project like a collection of art.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate Art Collections are a<strong> vehicle for business communication<\/strong>: a brand can use the artwork as a way of expressing its identity and its values, both to the society and to its customers, as well as to <strong>its employees.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the style of the works and their historical time can be metaphors of their business: we are referring to <strong>corporate symbolism, a first impression that potential customers remember next to the company&#8217;s services card.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The disruptive ability of the art to be an expression way so transversal, made it possible for many companies to use it even within their own strategies of<strong> Corporate Social Responsability<\/strong> &#8230;
