by Banksy, reaching a new sales record for the English street artist &#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/em><\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"result-shield-container tlid-copy-target\" tabindex=\"0\"><em><strong><span class=\"\" title=\"\">Let&#8217;s find out what happened and the background.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2><!--more--><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_wrapper wpb_text_column td_block_wrap td_block_wrap vc_column_text tdi_10  tagdiv-type td-pb-border-top td_block_template_1\"  data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_10\" ><div class=\"td-fix-index\"><section class=\"content-section full-width with-col cover pb-70 pb-xs-50 rella-no-margin content-section-5a71cb13dc9ff\">\n<div class=\"row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p>The <em>\u201cContemporary Art Evening Auction\u201d<\/em> of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sothebys.com\/\">Sotheby&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> attracts all the<strong> attention of collectors and art professionals every year in early October.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The protagonists of the last auction sale were <strong>Jean-Michel Basquiat<\/strong> with is <em><strong>&#8220;Pyro&#8221;<\/strong> <\/em>work sold for <strong>9.879.500 pounds<\/strong>, <strong>and the most famous and mysterious street artist in the world, Banksy,<\/strong> <strong>who reached the world record with <em>&#8220;Devolved Parliament&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> recording the sale of 11 million euros and exceeding the precedent by almost 10 times for the work<em><strong> Girl with Balloon<\/strong><\/em>, which was destroyed as soon as it was awarded.<\/p>\n<p>The monumental work is an oil on canvas measuring <strong>2.5 x 4.2 meters realized in 2009<\/strong>, exhibited on the occasion of the famous exhibition <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/artrights.me\/en\/fashion-meets-art\/\">\u201c<em>Banksy versus Bristol Museum<\/em>\u201d<\/a> visited by over 300 thousand people and bought by a private individual in 2011, who remained the only owner until the auction sale.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many, however, have noticed <strong>numerous differences in the canvas<\/strong> <strong>compared to that exhibited in 2009,<\/strong> a sign that <strong>Banksy presumably modified<\/strong> the work in the two years that separate the exhibition at the Bristol Museum and the <a href=\"https:\/\/artrights.me\/en\/primary-and-secondary-art-market\/\">first sale of the artwork.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not only that, the canvas <strong>has changed its title<\/strong>: <strong>from &#8220;Question Time&#8221; to &#8220;Devolved Parliament&#8221;<\/strong> where &#8220;devolved&#8221; means the <strong>evolutionary regression<\/strong> represented by the English Parliament populated by <strong>monkeys in a chaotic and confusing environment in heated controversy against Brexit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The auction base established by Sotheby&#8217;s was 1.5 million pounds, but it took only 13 minutes to start a real <strong>&#8220;upward battle&#8221;
